Leora Cashe – Jazz Vocalist | Recording Artist | Storyteller in Song

After a recording hiatus that followed her acclaimed 2007 release Another Side Now: The Songs of Joni Mitchell, Vancouver-based jazz vocalist Leora Cashe returns with Brand New Day — a deeply personal and powerfully expressive new album that reaffirms her place among Canada’s most soulful and sophisticated voices.

Leora’s rich, velvety tone and emotionally resonant delivery have captivated audiences across Europe and North America. Drawing from jazz, gospel, and folk traditions, her sound is at once timeless and contemporary — a refined vocal style grounded in heart, authenticity, and sheer artistry.

Her discography includes two celebrated gospel albums, Tears of Joy (a West Coast Music Award nominee) and Inspiration, alongside two jazz recordings: My Heart Stood Still and her reimaginings of Joni Mitchell’s early folk catalogue, Another Side Now, featuring the late piano master Ross Taggart.

A consummate live performer, Leora has toured internationally in Italy, Belgium, and the UK, and shared stages with Canadian music luminaries such as Dee Daniels, Denzal Sinclaire, Jim Byrnes, Shari Ulrich, and the legendary Tommy Banks. She also opened for saxophone great Stanley Turrentine at the Vancouver International Jazz Festival.

Her latest album, Brand New Day, marks a luminous new chapter — a stunning collection of original compositions and reimagined classics co-produced with longtime musical collaborator and husband, Jaye Krebs. The project showcases standout contributions from a stellar cast of Canadian jazz talent: the deep and sensitive swing of Miles Black on piano, the boundless groove of Conrad Good on bass, and the dynamic and driving rhythms of Julian MacDonough on drums.

Offstage, Leora is a passionate educator, inspiring the next generation through her long-standing involvement with the Music for Young Children program. Whether in the concert hall or classroom, her commitment to music as both a spiritual and artistic calling remains unwavering.

With Brand New Day, Leora Cashe invites listeners into a world of vulnerability, hope, and deep connection — a voice once again ready to be heard.
